Health and wellness, materials safety, circularity, transparency - these are just a few of the topics on which the American Chemistry Council is collaborating with the U.S. Green Building Council and other stakeholders to enhance sustainability in the built environment.
The innovative products of chemistry, from energy-efficient foam insulation and silicone caulks and sealants, to durable vinyl flooring, to plastic pipes that are virtually leak-free, and many other products, provide numerous benefits that help enable green, sustainable buildings.
But ACC and our members recognize there is more to do, and that’s why we are collaborating with the International Well Building Institute to sponsor the Global Health & Wellness Summit at Greenbuild 2019.
Safeguarding and enabling human health is a driving force behind many sustainable building initiatives. How can building owners, architects, designers, and developers take a holistic approach to health and wellness, positioning health materials science as a lens through which all building design and operation decisions are made?
The Global Health & Wellness Summit at Greenbuild 2019 will bring together employers, building owners, designers, developers, manufacturers, employees and investors who are unlocking enormous benefits and potential by committing to green, healthy buildings. » Learn More
Chemistry is the science behind sustainability, and science is essential to understanding and overcoming the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges. For more than 30 years, ACC member companies have demonstrated commitments to sustainability through Responsible Care®, the chemical industry’s environmental, health, safety and security performance initiative. In 2018, ACC members came together to build on that foundation, launching a set of Sustainability Principles which illustrate our commitment to improving our own sustainability performance and helping others to do the same. » Learn More | » Watch Video
ACC and our members believe that chemicals must be produced and used in ways that protect human health and the environment. Under the Responsible Care Product Safety Code, ACC member companies evaluate products for safety and environmental impacts, and commit to sharing chemical information throughout the supply chain to help customers make informed, science-based materials decisions. » Learn More | » Watch Video
Collaboration is key to addressing global challenges through global solutions. From bipartisan efforts to reform the U.S. federal chemicals management programs to Dow’s partnership with USGBC and the International Olympic Committee to support sustainable cities through carbon mitigation, collaboration drives impacts. That’s also why an alliance of global companies from the plastics value chain – from manufacturers to consumer brands - to waste management companies - launched the Alliance to End Plastic Waste earlier this year. » Learn More | » Watch Video
